Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he misses playing alongside Wayne Rooney and hopes the pair can be reunited before either player retires.
Ronaldo, 30, spent six seasons playing alongside Rooney at Manchester United before making his record breaking transfer to La Liga giants Real Madrid in 2009 where he would go on to add two Ballon d’Or trophies, adding to the one sealed in his last season at Old Trafford.
Despite his incredible goalscoring record in Madrid, The Portugal international has repeatedly been linked with an emotional return to United to end his career in typically Hollywood style and, speaking in a new BBC documentary about Rooney, quoted by The Sun, he added fuel to the fire:
‘I miss playing with Rooney. Maybe we will play together again one day,’ he revealed.
‘He was the kid of England, everyone loved him.
‘He was so powerful I was calling him Pitbull. The power of Wayne Rooney is his mentality and strength and he never stops.
‘He’s a fantastic team player and he scores! He’s a fantastic boy and he helped me a lot when he came to join us in Manchester.’
