This is despite Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal recently assuring the player that he will be getting a chance to impress at Old Trafford this season [Eurosport]. The Dutchman sent him out on loan to Real Madrid last season, but with Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao both having left the club the 27-year-old is one of very few strikers left.
Spurs may be put off by the Mexico international's wages though, which are currently at £100,000-a-week. However, with flops Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor currently the only players to back up Harry Kane at White Hart Lane, taking the hit financially may be worth it.
The North London club will certainly need some reinforcements up front if they are going to challenge for the top four next season. They were only six points off the fourth placed Red Devils last time round, but with United strengthening through the addition of Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Memphis Depay it will take a massive effort to overhaul them.
