Hector Bellerin has praised Arsene Wenger for trusting in young players at Arsenal and has hit out at big-spending rivals like Manchester City and Chelsea.
Wenger plucked Bellerin from Barcelona’s youth academy in 2011 and threw the 20-year-old into Premier League action last season – with the right-back making 20 appearances throughout the 2014/2015 campaign.
The Gunners smashed their club record in 2013 to bring Mesut Ozil to the club for £42million but have spent considerably less than all of their rivals in the last decade.
And Bellerin, who started in the Gunners’ 4-0 FA Cup final win against Aston Villa, has praised Wenger for utilising the club’s academy and not splashing out like their rivals.
‘The fans rate that Arsenal don’t just buy players – they make them the players they are,’ Bellerin Arsenal’s official website.
‘Arsenal fans are really proud of that and I think that’s a great thing.
‘When players like Francis [Coquelin], Jack [Wilshere] or myself come up, the fans should be proud that their team is doing what they’re doing.
‘That’s a great thing Arsenal do.’
