The forward attributed the Anambra Warriors’ triumph to the club’s boss profound enthusiasm
The Anambra Warriors won the Nigeria’s oldest cup competition after clinching a 5-4 penalty victory over the Solid Miners. And the forward has now said his side repaid the faith owner Ifeanyi Ubah had in the team.
“I’m very, very happy. We worked hard and God granted us victory. It is not about the Cup only, at least we also got to the continent,” Mohammed told Goal.
“Wow, it is a dream come true, there is no one that would lift the FA Cup that will never be happy. We thank the owner of the Club, he’s really worked hard for us. And we thank God that he finally granted us the trophy. We are very, very happy.
“The chairman of the club has given us enough motivation already, and we felt like it’s high time we get ourselves together to try and get him what he wants."
Speaking on how they overcame the unpredictability of penalty shoot-out, the 65th-minute substitute revealed what Brazil-born coach Raphael Everton told them, prior, to spur them to title at the expense of the Kabir Dogo’s men.
“He [Everton] told us to go out there and get the cup and we so much believed in that word [that] we never thought of losing, even though it was penalty kicks,” he said.
On the disappointment of the final day of the Nigerian Professional Football League defeat and next season’s expectation: “I feel great, at least we ended up in the top position [NPFL], God helped us to finish to the fourth position, we thank God.
“We are looking forward to perform well [next season]. It is not all about going to add up to the numbers on the continent, we are going there to make our number count,” he concluded.
