The Rio 2016 Olympics have finally got underway, with the women’s football teams starting their competition today.
One record has already been broken, with Canada’s Janine Beckie scoring the fastest ever Olympic women’s goal just 20 seconds in to their encounter with Australia.
Canada went on to win the match 2-0, and joined Brazil and Sweden in making a victorious start to the competition.
Germany v Zimbabwe, USA v New Zealand and France v Colombia are still to go ahead today/tomorrow, with Rio a full four hours behind UK time.
