Today’s nonsense had a late night
Pogba this. Pogba that. Frankly the Mill is sick of hearing about Paul.
If somebody could just wake us up when the deal is done, or indeed not done, that would be grand. Not least because then the domino effect will begin, and while Juventus will spend most of their new-found riches on Gonzalo Higuaín, the Serie A champions will also make a big song and dance about signing Javier Mascherano from Barcelona. They’ll have a Paul Pogba-shaped hole to fill, you see.
Barcelona’s manager Luis Enrique said last Thursday that talks with Mascherano over a new contract were ongoing but it is not impossible to see the Argentinian following Dani Alves to Turin, particularly as he is may not be a regular starter for the Catalan side this season, with Gerard Piqué expected to partner new signing Samuel Umtiti in central defence.
If Juve’s bid for Mascherano fails, they’ll give Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko or Zenit’s Axel Witsel a go instead.
