Louis van Gaal's side may have started the season with a 1-0 win against Tottenham but Manchester United were less than convincing on the opening day at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have splashed the cash again this summer but are still looking for a striker, a winger and a centre-back as Van Gaal targets a title challenge.

Angel Di Maria's departure has left Van Gaal's squad looking short on class and depth in attacking areas and he's keen to complete at least two more deals before September 1st.

Nicolas Gaitan's agent in Manchester to seal move – report

Benfica winger Gaitan has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and it seems as though the Argentinian is finally going to get his wish.

The 27-year-old was a target for both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes in the last few seasons and Van Gaal is also an admirer of the skillful winger.

And, according to reports, the Benfica star's agent is flying into Manchester to complete a big money move for the star.

United in talks with Gremio for Lincoln – report

The president of Brazilian side Gremio has confirmed that the Red Devils have enquired about midfielder Lincoln.

The 16-year-old prodigy has made two appearances for Gremio's first team and is one of the brighest prospects in Brazil.

And the Old Trafford club are hoping to complete a deal for the exciting teenager, though work permit issues make a deal difficult.

Red Devils line up Ezequiel Lavezzi move – report

A move for Barcelona's Pedro is taking far longer than anticipated and United have identified Paris Saint-Germain winger Lavezzi as viable alternative.

The Red Devils sold Angel Di Maria to the French giants last week and they know they can use their civil partnership to seal a quick deal for the Argentine winger.

Lavezzi, 30, is in his fourth season in the French capital but is open to moving to the Premier League with first team football increasingly hard to come by under Laurent Blanc.
