Whatever you think of Mesut Ozil on the pitch, you can't argue with him off it.

The Arsenal midfielder scooped a Laureas Award last year after donating his World Cup bonus so 23 Brazilian children could have lifesaving operations.

And now he's pulled off another incredible act after paying for 11 more children to have operations in the coming months in the Brazilian state of Coroata.

All of the children are from poor families in South America and wouldn't be able to afford the treatment without help from the Gunners maestro.


Ozil has fond memories of Brazil after winning the World Cup there last year with Germany, and as part of that legacy, he's pledged to keep helping children there.

'I want to continue to leave a positive mark in Brazil by financing elven more children's operations,' he said.

'For me it's very important that I carry on providing help for the children of Brazil.'
