The midfielder will miss Super Eagles’ next two games in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series according to the Confederation of African Football
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has announced that Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has been handed a two-match ban for his red card in Super Eagles 2-0 defeat of Chad in Kaduna.
The SS Lazio player was given the marching order in the 78th minute referee Ibrahim Mamane after a violent conduct against a Chadian defender.
A letter from the African football body to the Nigeria Football Federation stated that for the “violent conduct, player No.17 Eddy Ogenyi Onazi was expelled and he is automatically suspended for his next 2 official matches: 39 – Tanzania Vs Nigeria and 66: Nigeria Vs Egypt.”
Onazi will miss Nigeria’s next qualifier against Tanzania on September 5, 2015 plus the one against Egypt on March 25, 2016.
The Super Eagles are second on goal difference to Egypt in Group G on goal difference.
