David Moyes started his Sunderland reign with a pre-season victory over Stade Nyonnais on Monday evening thanks to a brace from Duncan Watmore.
The 22-year-old striker, who was released by Manchester United at the age of 12, scored two penalties late in the first half in the match against the Swiss outfit.
The 2-0 half-time scoreline remained unchanged after 90 minutes to ensure Moyes got his Black Cats career off to a winning start.
Moyes was appointed on Saturday following the exit of Sam Allardyce and watched a 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Rotherham the same day, but this was his first match in the dugout.
