Contract Extensions
Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott have signed new contract extensions with Arsenal, the club have officially announced.
After dropping into a deeper midfield role last season, Cazorla excelled as he made 53 appearances for the club, helping the Gunners to a late season surge after which they finished third in the Premier League.
His performances earned him credit across Europe and he has been linked with a move away from the club all summer, most heavily with Atletico Madrid.
But now the Spaniard has committed his future to the North London outfit and will be looking forward to another full season of playing time ahead of Euro 2016.
Meanwhile, Walcott is Arsenal's longest serving player and having come back from a lengthy lay off last season will be hoping to help fire his side towards some silverware next term.
He has made over 200 league appearances for the Gunners, scoring 50 goals along the way. After finishing last season in fine form he may get more of a chance to play in his preferred central striking role in the coming campaign.
Upon the two players signing new deals boss Arsene Wenger seemed in good spirits.
"We're delighted to have extended the contracts of Santi and Theo. Both are top quality players who are hugely important and influential to our squad.
"As well as their huge contributions on the pitch, they both have a great deal of experience and are very popular off the pitch.
"We're very pleased with them both signing contract extensions, as it provides our squad with further stability of quality.
"Everyone at the club is looking forward to the continued contributions of Santi and Theo in the seasons ahead."
Arsenal have won the FA Cup for the past two seasons and will be looking to build on these achievements by challenging for the Premier League title or the Champions League next year.
